River of Lights

Greetings New Mexico afficianados! This month has to be the most magical in Albuquerque. With our luminarias lining the walkways and our glorious Sandia Mountains glistening with new snow, there is beauty all around us every day and night. A particularily great way to spend a clear Albuquerque night (of which we have so many), is by heading on down to the River of Lights at the NM Botanical Gardens. Wear a few layers and bring a couple dollars for a hot chocolate (or bring your own!). I like to walk along the right side of the Common first. Make sure you go all the way back through the garden - it's a really exstensive display. Every year I see something new. Wandering amidst the gardens in the evening quiet, with these fantastic and beautiful sculptures of light around every corner, it's really quite breathtaking. I always save the train for last, and it's such a treat. Our model train around the Christmas tree was never like this! Lakes and bridges, tunnels and towns, it's a whole miniature community celebrating the holiday spirit. If there's still time, I'll head over to the Shark Reef Cafe for a tasty treat afterwards.

And for us this holiday season, we're celebrating in our special way. We have a few days left of the 25 days of Holiday Giveaway. Our Buy-One-Get-One-Half-Off Deal and our Gift Card Promotion are both good through next year.

Wishing you a safe a prosperous journey until we meet (again),
Barbara
